Plano, TX – “America’s Safest City” 2010
Plano has received yet another great recognition: America’s Safest City by Forbes.
The Dallas suburb earned this title because it has the lowest violent crime rate of all big American cities and a much lower rate of fatal car accidents. It is the only city in Texas to make the Top 10.
To determine which cities are the safest, Forbes writers studied violent crime data compiled by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and traffic fatality data compiled by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
This recognition comes as no surprise to Plano residents, as they know all too well how serious the City takes traffic violations. Plano is well-known for its active pursuit of traffic law violators, particularly those who run red lights. If you’re new to the area, you quickly learn that all of the red light cameras are operational.
